Food processing is Georgia’s top manufacturing sector and the Food and Beverage cluster is well established in Southeast Coastal Georgia due to our counties having strong presences in agriculture and commercial fisheries.

Our Southeast Coastal Georgia counties produce nearly a quarter billion dollars annually in Farm Gate Value.
Thousands of acres of fertile land make our area some of the state’s top producers of blackberries, blueberries, citrus, melons, okra, onions, and peas.
Two of our member counties are in the top ten in the state for growing timber, one county is ranked 2nd in the state for growing Christmas trees, and one is ranked 4th in the state for pine straw.

Our farmers are also known for producing goats, honeybees, pigs, eggs.
Hunting and hunting leases are major contributors to our local economy (over $4 million).
Georgia’s commercial seafood industry generates more than $1.9 billion in economic impact.
More than 6,000 workers in our region are employed in food processing.
